First of all I would like to memorize the fact that Leo Henricus Arthur Baekeland was born in 1863. In 2013, on November 14, exactly one and a half century ago!

One hundred years ago, Baekeland was waved off by his family to start his Japanese journey. As the saying goes: Without a past, no future.

A great new acquisition - a rare scientific instrument - Mouton Pendule No. 4 - from around 1930, used to test Bakelite strength. Generous gift of Vyncolit/SBHPP in Ghent.
